Feel Like Complaining

Many times during the school year we have a particular State Patrol officer that parks his car outside of our house to check the speed of drivers going through the school zone. Since it's a high school with open campus, the speed limit is 20 mph the entire school day. Does anybody follow it? Not many. That's why Scooter parks here. That's the name I gave him when he started parking here. He looked so young and new to the force, and stuck on radar duty. But boy, does he catch them. He stands with his radar gun or something that looks like binoculars and then he'll step out in the street to motion someone to pull over. Sometimes he jumps in the car to take chase. I was looking through some old handwritten recipes of my Grandmothers. They were in a little book and it still had her maiden name on it, and one page was dated 1924. I had an idea for my Mom to use copies of them for a craft project. If she does do it, I'll show you. Anyway I found this recipe for "How To Preserve A Husband". It feels good to get big things out of the way at the beginning of the year. Taxes are done. FAFSA is done (financial aid). I am celebrating that this is the last FAFSA I will ever have to do! Even with paying for a service to actually do the submitting, it still requires a lot of work on my end. With those two things behind me, it was time to move on to my annual Dr. appointment. I had to renew my medications and get necessary blood work. She decided not to run a cholesterol test this year. But since my glucose level was a bit high last year, she wanted to run that one. Uh oh.......my A1C level went from 5.8 last year to 6.3 currently. 6.5 is considered to be a diabetic level. I am close, too close. I saw the results before my doctor but I knew I would have a message from her by the end of the day. She wanted me to schedule a phone appointment which I have set up for tomorrow. Remember when I talked about our Daughter moving in to her new place this fall? It's an apartment that can house 4 girls with a common kitchen/dining room area. There are only 3 girls though, one room is still empty. There are a total of 4 apartments in the building. One girl who The Kid likes, spends most time with her boyfriend so is not there much at all. The other girl is the one from China. This girl cooks....everyday. She doesn't buy frozen meals to microwave like a lot of college students. She cooks big Chinese meals. She never goes out, so she cooks.......A LOT. The problem is not the cooking, it's the mess she leaves behind. She does run the dishwasher but only when she needs dishes to start cooking all over again. The counters and stove are never cleaned. The kitchen is unusable for anyone else. Her crap is strewn all over the table and rest of the common area. It feels like it's her apartment and the other girls are subletting a tiny bedroom. Oh, and sh...

The other day I did something that I've never done before to either of my Step-Sons. They're grown men now, and they didn't grow up with us so I never had the need to scold them or correct behavior when they were with us. OK, once I tried to break up a kitten pulling contest they had when they were young and my cat had babies. My Husband said to me "Oh, they're alright." That was the end of my meddlesome parenting. Occasionally my husband likes to share political stuff on FB. I don't like or comment, rather just move on. He is old school, believes in Unions and a fair wage. His youngest Son (the attorney) on the other hand is the total opposite. He will goad his dad into a conversation on FB that goes absolutely nowhere.
