Feel Like Complaining

I was flat out exhausted after Graduation and did nothing the next day. We had to gear up for Miss Mimzy on Monday. She only stayed one night this time around. At home they give her hard plastic toys to play with because she destroys stuffed toys. She destroyed quite a bit here but so do many other dogs, so it's no big deal. She is also a big humper of those toys so we had to take them away; she was out of control. It was funny to hear Faith say, "stop humping the monkey!" We got our laugh for the day. If I can't hump it, I'll chew its leg off We had a day of rest before our next boarder arrived. Ally is a very sweet older lady. She's a 12 year-old mostly deaf Cocker Spaniel who will be here a total of 9 days. Very inquisitive, she searched the entire house with her nose. Graduation of high schools and colleges are taking place across the land. My own hometown high school had their ceremony for a total of 5 seniors. Yep, just 5. I can't even imagine. Our own daughter, who I will from now on refer to her by name instead of 'The Kid', had her ceremony this past Saturday. She's not a kid anymore and her name is Faith. And my Husband's name is Tony. This will be easier from now on. This is the first year her college's ceremony was held here in our town. It was typically held 30 minutes away, on the football field of the campus. The field is red and impressive, but weather is unpredictable so it was moved. Depending on the program a student took, depended which ceremony to go to. Hers was in the morning and we arrived at 9:00 to grab a seat (hurry up to wait). We didn't want to do a big party thing so we ordered a cake and just told family members to come over at 1:00 if they wanted. Both her brothers came and on...

This past week I have been sitting at a house with two 10 year old poodles. They have a nice deck to look out over the yard and it's partially covered. A Chickadee birdhouse in the tree with babies that fledged, a quail family, and a bunny roaming around, were just a few things that kept me entertained. Oh and the dogs are OK too. They even have a squirrel house with possible babies in it. I saw a parent run up the tree but no activity since. The owner said that Mom will bring the babies out on the balcony to play when they're old enough. I'd love to see that! While I was here, the family got to take care of this big boy (American Bulldog), Maverick. He's only 4 but has some hip and knee issues so it's in his best interest to not be very active with other dogs. I went home to greet him and walk him when I could. He walks really great and if you need a box broken down to recycle, he's your man! Five minutes later and that box was toast. Lo...

Over the holiday weekend we had Angel again; the ball obsessed dog. It's getting easier as WE decide when it's time to play. If we ignore her, she lays down. She's not into pats on the head or normal dog play; it's the ball or nothing. The good things about her though is that she doesn't bark at every single noise, doesn't charge the fence to get to the neighbor's dogs, and doesn't need walking. In this business you have to take the good with the bad and just deal with it. Unless it's really, really, bad. Luckily we haven't run across many of those. Through the week I've been doing twice a day drop-ins on these two beauties. I don't have many drop-in clients so that's been kind of fun. It's pretty easy; just food, water, and clean the box.
