Feel Like Complaining

This is the Newest and Bestest thing that's happened in a long time. I love Joe, but he did the right thing and I feel more hopeful and energized about the future.  Other new things closer to home. I picked up a new client without even trying. Julie's neighbor came over one morning while I was there. She needed to get into the garage to get the lawn mower. We got to talking and she said Julie raved about me so she inquired about me sitting for her two dogs. They're big, but older and not so energetic. I'll be staying this Saturday and Sunday which will be really tight with a trip Faith and I are going on Monday, but I didn't want to say no. I also got a new friend; imagine that! Years ago when I first started painting rocks I left one at Walmart. A woman found it and gave it to her mother who lived in Canada. I started doing 2xday drop-ins for Julie on the 9th. It's gone pretty well but since it's gotten really hot, my energy is waning. I usually wake up at 6 a.m. anyway but there is no relaxing in the mornings; just go, go, go. Faith goes with me at night (she gets litter box duty). I stay some nights too; will do it 4 times in all. I'm trying to find a place to sleep that's comfy and not hot. This is where I ended up, in a spare bedroom and turned a chair and ottoman into a bed. I can be resourceful, although it's not super comfortable. There is a fan which helps and at least I don't have 6 cats crawling all over me.  Just a few random shots of half of them over this past week. I won't be finished until Thursday morning and I'm really looking forward to that! This area behind our fence in the alley has been has been such an undesirable spot since we moved in.  Some plants are here as well as two buried cats, but that's it. It never gets water but the weeds continue to grow.  Tony has decided that we are done with composting. We've been doing it for 20 years and I've asked him the last 5 if he still wants to do it. It's been fun, but a lot of work for what we got out of it. That way the compost bins can go and we plan to keep the weeds down and build up the soil to plant wildflowers like Faith did. At least it won't be such an eyesore.  This year I turned the garden over to Faith. Even though we don't plant a lot, it's too much for me to keep up with along with all the other yard work. I'll water but she's been doing the weeding and giving us updates on what's doing what, ha. I think she enjoys it for the most part. I bought some A-frame type trellises for the zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers to climb...

A few months ago Faith took it upon herself to fix up this gross patch of dirt behind our garage that really had no purpose. Years ago Tony had planted a fire bush but it got out of control, so we chopped it down and applied poison to hopefully kill it off. We had one of our handmen pull out the stump and then Faith got to work. There were lots of Iris's there but they were growing in a sheet clear out of the dirt. She pulled most of them up and we put a free sign by them and they were gone soon. She filled the area in, put up a little fence and planted wild flowers. I think it looks pretty darn cute! Recently, I had to weed another gross area under our water faucet. It's always weedy and often ignored. There's a big plastic planter to catch the run off of rain from a small gutter above the egress window and to store our hose. I weeded, put down a little layer of fresh dirt and planted a few things. All last week I did drop ins for Julie's cats. Her last batch of fosters were gone, except for one little girl who had a UTI and needed medicine before she could be adopted. Of course I fell in love with her, just like the others. Meet Eeyore.  They all have such different personalities, Amelia is still the shyest girl and will peek around corners and never gets too close. Nutmeg and Leo (Amelia's brother). Nutmeg was the latest kitten and she's grown so much. She is also the naughtiest and will hiss and growl at any newcomer cat. She knocks things down all the time and even managed to pull a plant down from a high perch. I think she is Jack's reincarnate. Tino is now the old timer since her original cats have passed. He only likes to be touched if he's on the cat tree and he will roll all around for pets. He'll run away otherwise if you try to reach out to pet him.  Rocket looks so good now!
