New Boyfriend

Image
Faith and I are in love with the same boy. So far it hasn't been a problem sharing. This beautiful boy Fuzzball, has been at Julie's a few years now, living outside. Remember, she took him in to get him to a vet to fix an injured tail and neutered. He hated it inside as well as people in general. Once he was healed, he went back out and occasionally on really cold nights, he would reluctantly come in when invited.  He was always the same when we'd take food outside; he'd run and hide. Even last month he was hiding when I'd go out. I don't know what in the heck happened over this past month to change his tune about us, but when I took food out last week, he was sitting on the grill and I just stuck my hand out. He backed up a bit, then came forward and nudged my hand.  That was the moment I fell in love. When a feral cat finally trusts you, there's nothing you can feel but love. Faith was inside and didn't want to spook him but the next night she went out...

Well Shit

The morning of our trip, I needed to leave Kaia and Timber's place at 8:45. I was playing with them outside to burn off some energy and I threw the frisbee for Kaia. I'm not a great thrower and it hit the house, she went after it and ran into a bed of chunky basalt rock. She stopped playing immediately so I walked in. She followed me and all I could see was little puddles of blood under one foot. I panicked and tried to clean it up, but she kept walking around making more puddles. I called her mom twice but she was still asleep. Finally she called me back and by then the bleeding had mostly stopped. She didn't have any bandage material so I just held a paper towel on it until it was time to go and I put her in the crate. I just felt so awful; it was the first time a dog has ever been hurt under my care. She's fine now; didn't have to go to the vet and her mom assured me that she still wants me to watch them. Faith and I went shopping on Friday because I had a last ...

Fun

Faith and I had such a good time in Leavenworth. As soon as we unpacked a bit we went swimming. It was 97 by the time we got there and it felt so good! We were getting hungry so headed out for pizza. There is no more parking on the main street so it's really hard to find a place to park. Since it was later, we parked behind a bank since they were closed. With full bellies we went backs to our room. The next morning, we filled our plates with breakfast and ate in the back yard. It's so quiet and peaceful there. Faith had found a place to take a hike and it was perfect, and only 2 miles away. Penstock trail originally carried a water pipeline used to deliver water to a powerhouse. The electricity powered electrical engines which pulled trains through the Cascade Tunnel at Stevens Pass. Some people say the trail is boring but we loved it. The river was low but still pretty. It was almost two and-a-half miles long out and back and it was warming up pretty good by the time we got ba...

Timber And Kaia

Image
I'm going to say that I'm glad this sitting job was only 2 nights. Kaia is about nine and really reminds me of Nellie. Sweet disposition and very much into cuddles. She has bursts of energy but settles quickly. Timber the Yellow Lab is about 6 and a big energetic boy. He doesn't realize his strength and paws your legs when he wants to play. I left with several scratches on my legs. He also barks a lot when he's excited. He had gotten wet outside so I was drying him off and he went under my legs and lifted me up enough so that I couldn't touch the floor. What a sight that must of been and all I could think of is 'oh, this is how I die!' It was really odd being right next door to Julie's; I felt like I was cheating on her! I would sit for them again, it just takes time to get used to new dogs and their personalities. Today Faith and I are going to Leavenworth; swimming pool, here we come!
