Away Again

Saturday I started a 15 night stay in Airway Heights, where I haven't been in 2 years. They were down to one cat (Max) after Sasha and Salem died, but recently got another cat. His name is Oliver and he was not in the best of conditions when Steve rescued him. He's really sweet and a great companion for Max.  I'll leave here on the 5th of December, then back on the 18th until Jan 2. Our Thanksgiving dinner will be on the 12th. You just have to make due with what ya got. I won't make as much money but it's a lot easier and I'm really enjoying it. Steve has been super nice and not quite so micro-managing.  At home, Faith and Tony are watching Dixie, a several time returnee. Her bio said she doesn't get along with cats, which in her case means that she's afraid of them. The first night she would hide from him but he's a smart boy and has learned to read the room and just goes about his business and leaves her alone. *Edit to say that he is now bugging h...

Plans For The New Year

Image
A few months ago I decided that I wanted to do more traveling. I have always wanted to go on a cruise but just don't see that in the future anymore. Now seems to be the future as I'm not getting any younger. I don't think I could handle the long flight to get to a port. I was really interested in the new Virgin Voyages line, owned by Richard Branson. The one cruise I would love to do is Greece, but the 17 hour flight to get there kind of quashed that idea. What sounded so cool was that on board there are several restaurants and food choices that you can go to anytime; no set time formal dining. I do NOT do formal anything.  I guess it still could happen but I decided to start small, plus I still have to work around the doggo's. I don't want to be crazy busy but still don't want to stop yet... Faith and I will be flying to Seattle in February for 3 nights, staying downtown and mostly walking to our destinations. In June, Tony and I will spend 4 nights on Orcas Is...

Back At It

We had a nice 10 day break after Teddy left and got a lot done; cleaning carpets, blowing and mulching leaves, snow blower tuned up (although we are going to have someone do our alley and sidewalks), lunch out with a friend, and a trip to Costco. That place exhausts me. We don't even do the whole store but it's easier to walk 3 beaches in a day than go there. I needed a nap after that! Faith took down Abe's big blue house (portable crate) and now he's free to sleep and roam anywhere.....and he does. His litter box is downstairs and he slept with me for the first 2 nights, but has been blessing Faith with his presence ever since. He's so noisy to sleep with because he gets right in our faces. He also does a weird thing by licking our faces and nibbling our noses and fingers when he's really happy and purring. Faith read that it was a grooming thing like we're his littermates but I just call it annoying. He is into everything, racing around knocking things off...

Teddy

Two Frenchie's in a Row? Yes, a few days after Cooper left, Teddy arrived. He's a smaller, younger, snorty boy. He had never been around cats so we did another slow intro with Abe. For the most part they played really well. Teddy would start the chase into one room, then Abe would be chasing when they came out. Faith set up her gates at her bedroom door so that only Abe could get through to find a safe place. There are also boxes in the kitchen just the right size for a kitten to hide. The only thing about Teddy, in which we were warned about, is that if he is on a lap first and another animal wants to come up, Teddy will snap at them. That happened twice but we were prepared. Now if Abe is in a seat first, Teddy will quietly and calmly sneak up and lie down. All animals steal my chair! Teddy is a pretty good boy although he gets into some mischief. He has these wild play streaks but then will sleep the rest of the day. I never met a young dog that slept that much. Walks are, I...
