No Doggos To Love

Image
All of our sitting jobs have been cancelled through April and most of May. A few people rescheduled but my upcoming paydays are looking very bleak. With no dogs to talk about I guess I'll just show you some pictures. This is the African mask my Mom made with corrugated cardboard. She made a template for all the pieces, then cut them out. That was the hard part because the cardboard was thick, so I helped a little. Then she painted the pieces and finally glued them together. I think it looks pretty cool but I'm pretty sure it will be the last thing she makes with cardboard. I'm trying some different paintings. I copied this one from an artist I follow on Instagram. I shared it to her page and she was flattered. I just loved it and and actually sold it on FB Marketplace. It wasn't my intention, I was just listing some things around the house and that was the first to go. Mine Hers This one is another hot glue piece; inspired by Pinterest. I sketched t...

Yard Update

Last fall we decided to not pick up fallen leaves; instead I painstakingly raked them where I wanted them so they could mulch over the winter. Did I assume they would all stay in their assigned place until the snow fell to weigh them down? Of course I did. Did they? Of course not. The winds came in and blew them one way, then the snow fell. After the snow left, the leaves were as dry as when they fell. I found their hiding spot against the fence and around the other side of the house and put them back where they belonged. Again, Miss Windy had her own idea and blew them all the other way to never be seen again. Late February the weather was decent enough to lay down some top soil/compost. Having a couple of yards delivered was out of the question, so to start with I bought 10 bags. It was easy enough to dump and spread, but thinking ahead to the other side of the yard I knew it would not work. I belong to Nextdoor and found a guy with a truck who would deliver a yard of tops...

Stressed To The Max

Image
I really wasn't sure what I wanted to write about this week but the Virus would not have been my first choice. So far Spokane does not have any confirmed cases, but it will in time. Oops, spoke too soon. My hands are raw from washing. I used to rub my eyes constantly due to allergies, but no more. I have to be extra diligent with cleanliness at my Mom's. My pet sitting business is suffering because of it. Trips are cancelled so no one needs my services. We had Chico over the weekend but don't have anything booked until mid next month and then the end of the month. I don't have high hopes that they won't be cancelled too. There is not one section of business, or any person that won't suffer through this in some capacity. Large companies won't be as hurt as the little guy. They can just raise prices and pass that along to the little guy. The little guy has nowhere to go for help. I know it won't last forever and things will get better. People will o...

I Like It Hot!

Image
I've had a penchant for hot/spicy food items since my late teens, as my best guess; but I never thought about it much till I REALLY thought about it. My newest obsession are these chili lime rolled tortillas. I usually only have them when I have salad for lunch at my Mom's. I bite them in half and put the other half in my salad like a crouton. My lips and mouth burn and my nose runs but my God I love 'em! A small bag will last quite a while because I can only handle about a dozen of them at a time. I also love this popcorn, it's just a little harder to find in stores. If I buy hot stuff, Faith and Tony will leave them alone. A bag of regular chips or any snack will be gone in days so 'heat' is my insurance that I will get something to myself. Hot salsa is also hard to find in stores. Pace brand is the only one I've found that is truly hot. Years ago I got the extra hot sauce from a taco place and it actually came out as hot as it went in. Last ti...

Old Little Girls

Image
In January I decided to open up my sitting services to new clients again. I got a request to sit for two older poodles and met them a few weeks ago, then started my 4 night stay on Wednesday. Both girls are apricot colored poodles. Desi is almost 15, missing an eye, and 5 pounds. Baby is almost 16, mostly blind and deaf and a whopping 4 pounds. They spend most of the day sleeping together in a heated bed. They have to be carried outside to do their business. The owners can do both at a time but I don't trust myself so only do one. They also sleep with the owners so that was me while I was there. One sleeps on top but close to the body (the rib area, says owner) I started her out away from me on a blanket but as I turned out the light she moved close, onto my pillow into my face. Much miscalculation I'd say. She was also shivering so I had a quaking puppy in my face. I turned over and as she warmed up, her little body did feel good against my neck and upper back. ...
