Changing Of The Yard

Image
Did you ever have an idea to do something that sounded so hard and daunting, but you actually talked your family into doing it? Well I did and they don't hate me.....yet. I had seen ads on Instagram regarding drought resistant gardens and thought the idea sounded pretty cool. There are so many plants available in any area that would work in this type of garden. The main reason for wanting to do this is that our lawn in the front yard is so lumpy due to tree roots on one side and fairy ring on the other. We've held it at bay for several years with soap and water applications but now the lawn just looks gross and Tony is tired of mowing. Plus, a drought tolerant garden uses less water and will no doubt add to the value of our house. Strictly for financial reasons, we knew we had to do this all on our own. We chose to use the sheet composting method to turn our lawn into rich soil. We've done it before and it worked great. Digging out the lawn wasn't feasible for sev...

Snappy Fun

Image
I always seem to be behind the times but recently downloaded Snapchat. The real reason I did is because they now have some pet filters that will pick up on an animal's face, along with human. And I must admit that it's kind of fun. Faith is my only friend so we send each other goofy pictures. Some filters make me look better though so I like them! They cover my wrinkles, make my double chin go away and give me long eyelashes like I used to have. So for your amusement (and my embarrassment) enjoy a little Snappy bit of me. Chill Time

After the last two weeks of crazy busy, I'm very happy to be staying with Annabelle again. She and her cat siblings are so easy and I can actually relax here. The owner hugs me when I get here and when they leave; plus tips well. It's kinda like going to see a relative that you actually like! Tony and Faith are taking care of returnee Spike again. He'll be at home for a week so I'll get to spend some time with him. He's a good walking dog for Tony so I'll just let him take that duty over. I am still taping my foot. I tried going without but only made it 3 days, ugh. I've been going to physical therapy and although there's not a lot he can do, he has showed me some stretching exercises and is using ultrasound therapy on my heel. I can walk further before pain sets in and I feel I'm at about 75% but dang, it's going so slow..... And another hives breakout this weekend, ugh again! It's just so darn random. One arm, one boob, one part ...

Scattered

Last weekend and through the week was pretty busy. Faith and Tony got to take care of this sweet little 12 year old girl Mocha for 2 nights. She's pretty shy and has a new head tilt problem. She hasn't been eating since that started, except for a few bites of treats. She slept with Faith which I hope helped her feel more at home. During that time I was sitting for Barkley and Riley, whom I have sat for before. Riley was just a few weeks post surgery for a torn acl so it was quite different to get her out to go to the bathroom. Instead of going out on the deck and down the stairs I had to take her by leash out the front door and around the side to the grass. Both dogs were very confused of this new routine. To say the least, I was pretty nervous about it. One wrong move and she could have re-injured herself. Barkley likes to play and doesn't like feeling cooped up. He whines a lot more to go out so then I have to leash up Riley to take them both. It was real...
