Feel Like Complaining

This holiday season has been so different than past ones. My Airway Heights stay was cancelled because he was still not feeling well enough to go on their trip. He felt so bad though, that he hand delivered a $100 gift card to Olive Garden. I was so shocked when I answered the door that I forgot his name! Since Tony had never met him, he was confused too. The house was such a mess; embarrassing because I clean his so well before I leave. The dog we were supposed to have here cancelled because their trip abroad was cancelled. I felt bad for them because I'm sure they had been planning it for a long time. They did reschedule for a shorter trip over the new year which should be OK, even with the bathroom work going on. Having never had to search for a contractor or more specifically a bathroom remodeler, I didn't realize what I was up against. I turned to my ol' friend Google and found many options. As it would be helpful to get this done in days instead of weeks, I started with Re-Bath. A 'designer' comes out first to take measurements and shows you her samples. Before she shows us her sales video, she decided to take measurements. I asked her some questions, wanting to know if they replaced windows; they do not. Why do an entire remodel and leave in a window from the late 40's? I gave her our rough budget and she said it would probably cost twice that, with our allotted budget to cover the shower only. Alrighty then; that was fun. When we said we couldn't do that she talked about financing and blah blah blah and told us to check reviews of any other contractors we find. Well Duh. I was supposed to be sitting for the two cats until the 5th but it ended abruptly last Monday. I had just gotten to Walmart to get my booster shot and pick up a few food supplies when Steve called and said they were in Seattle and would be home in a few hours. PANIC  time! He started feeling sick the day they they landed in Florida before their cruise. They did that cruise and then had a second leg of their trip they had to cancel. His wife said it was due to his auto immune deficiency but I just know he sounded rough.  Other than keeping up with dishes, I don't do any cleaning until the day before and day of my departure. Now I had to do it all in an hour or so. The line to check in for my shot was long and I knew I would have to stay awhile afterwards so I just left.
