Young, Old, and Forever Loved

Image
Last week we had one new dog and a returnee with us. Fozzy's family wanted to spend the whole day at a water park so it was easier just to have him stay over night. He was a rescue from Texas and very shy with new people. When I hear the word 'rescue', I kind of cringe. Not knowing what a dog has gone through, they carry their own baggage.  We had a meet and greet and I wasn't totally convinced that he would like us. He isn't crazy about men so Tony was on the outs again. Fozzy did better than expected though, quickly warming up to Faith and I, and eventually Tony. Another one, just 2ish years old had us hopping but he was pretty well behaved.  It was pretty rainy so we didn't get to spend a lot of time outside. He would have, but I wasn't so willing. Although he did poop in the house during the night (thanks Faith for cleanup on aisle 9), we would have him again. Mr. Fozzy He was picked up early in the morning because I had to drive 17 miles to pick up our ...

A Little Getaway

Last week we took a few days and went to the same RV park that Faith stayed at recently. She had noticed that they had 4 cabins so I quickly booked one; that is my kind of camping. Two Rivers Resort lies at the convergence of the Spokane and Columbia rivers. The best part, is that it's only an hour-and-a-half away from home and was a lovely drive.  The cabin was pretty nice, although to get any wifi we had to take a short walk close to the office to use theirs. We took a few walks through the campground and saw some magnificent RV's. Some people must stay there through the summer because they were quite decked out with all comforts from home. We saw a hot tub, fancy outdoor carpets and tables, gazebos and potted flowers. It's not something I would enjoy though; I get bored easily. There is also a small marina and it was fun looking at the boats. If you don't have a boat there's not much else to do, but the peace and quiet was lovely. There was a small path to somewh...

All The Moods

Image
I opened Snapchat last Friday because I wanted to take a picture of my new blue hair. Yes it's really blue. It had grown during quarantine so I just got a tiny trim then decided to mix it up and color it myself at home. I like it and hey, it's only hair. My Mom even liked it! So anyway Snapchat had a nice surprise for me on my birthday; they even baked me a cake. While I was at my Mom's that Friday I got a message regarding an upcoming booking at the end of August. Sadie's Mom asked if I could extend her stay by 3 days and I told her that we couldn't because another dog was coming the next day after her original booking ended. She said that they had extended their vacation and would have to cancel Sadie's stay so she could go with a sitter that could do the whole time frame. First I was so shocked I couldn't even reply. Then I got mad. Then I cried, all the way home. She said 'sorry for the inconvenience'. It's not even about the money, even thou...

Is It Enough?

Image
It has been horrifying as of late to be online or watch the news. The death of George Floyd has sent the world into a tailspin. Many have died before him and I don't think it's over yet. So what has made his death different? I can only guess that people are fed up. Fed up with inequality, fed up with BunkerBoy who hides and instills hate but does nothing to lift this country up. Lack of leadership leads us to our own devices, which could bring about change more than any inept leader can.  With video cams everywhere, policemen and others are now being held responsible for their crimes. Things are happening so fast every day I can't keep up. It's frustrating to me because I feel so much and don't know what to say or do.  Do I post a black square titled BlackLivesMatter? It doesn't seem enough and it makes me feel like I'm just doing what everyone else is. I've seen a few people (famous) on Instagram being blasted because they are not 'doing enough'...

Rocks and Storms

Image
When I have no dogs I must talk about rocks. This is my biggest to date, measuring 8.5x13.5. I'm going to put it outside by our rock garden so have to seal it well. I used a font generator to find one I wanted, then traced it from my computer to transfer to the rock. I am terrible at hand lettering and wanted it to look good. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Look closely and you'll find all sorts of things. These are some recent favorite ones too. We haven't been out a lot to do much hiding so for now they're at home just waiting to go on a trip. Over the weekend, Faith went camping with her lady camping group. Although it was a last minute trip, it was close by, so she jumped at the opportunity. She took a tent and shared a space with a woman in her RV. It started raining the morning after her first night. After that passed, a level 3 thunderstorm was brewing. She decided to stay but brought everything into her car and slept there. She has a small Rav 4 a...
