Feel Like Complaining

We got back on a Sunday and I had a one night job on Wednesday. Garrett and Luna are pretty easy. Luna just wants a lap and Garrett likes to play outside....a little. He then lays down but doesn't want to be alone outside so I have to stay out for awhile. On Friday I went back to Kodiak's. He wasn't nearly as stressed this time and only watched at the door for his parents a little in the evening. He likes to be chased outside, or play with his ball downstairs as I throw it. His parents are REALLY into Halloween and already have this guy up in their back yard. I stood under the hand and it didn't even touch me so it must be at least 15 feet tall. While I was there, Faith and I took turns doing drop ins for Julie's cats. The fosters are gone and she had to board Santa because he has turned into quite the meany to the others. Since we are only doing drop ins, his behavior can't be watched closely. She's trying to find a home for him; seems like she's always...

Before we left Ocean Shores yesterday, we took a short walk around a pond and saw our last deer. Early that morning, a couple showed up at the house and I gave them our last apple to share. I will miss that sight. Saturday night we stayed in Lacey; just relaxed and even had dinner delivered. Sunday was a smokey drive home and because of the fires we were detoured, which took extra time. This was from one of the rest areas. I don't know what happened to this font but I don't care :) Faith fed Abe and I started sprinklers. We had a newish neighbor do the watering for us, just by hand. It was so hot though that she started coming 3xday and was so stressed that she couldn't keep things alive. I felt bad for her but she did a good job and it could have looked a lot worse.  I did hear from Rover and they wanted to know if I wanted to cancel the last day. I said no, because we wouldn't be home until dinner. I'm still waiting to hear back on their final decision and am hopi...

Tuesday we went to the North Jetty to walk on the beach. It was so hard for Faith and I to carry the walker to harder sand. Tony has to hang on to it as we walk, then rest about every 20 feet. Quite the challenge for all of us. Every night the deer come to the yard and Faith got some good pics with her camera. Wednesday Faith and I went to the main tourist area and did a bit of shopping, then we all went out for very expensive pizza. Yesterday we went for a walk on the Weatherwax Trail. The outer perimeter is only 1.5 miles and only a few areas we had to help Tony get his walker over. That's all we did for the day.  We are starting home today instead of tomorrow. We'll only go part way, but it will make Sunday much easier. Plus Abe is having a hard time not having us there. I knew it wouldn't be easy but he hides and spends most of his day downstairs. That sums up the whole day. We wanted to have a nice day along the Oregon coast visiting our favorite little towns. Google maps said it would take 3 hours to get to the furthest point (Rockaway Beach). Silly us, it took almost twice as long. We got there about 3, and basically shopped our favorite store in 45 minutes. Then we passed on stopping in Manzanita and went straight on to Cannon Beach. It was about 4:30 and it was best we go to Mo's and have an early dinner then do some shopping and have an hour wait for dinner. After dinner, we just came back to our house; arriving at 8:30! This is the only miserable picture I took. It was a nice day and was way too crowded. I did catch some Pelicans flying by though. One thing we see either every morning or evening is deer; so many deer at this end of town. I could hear one or more munching on the shrubs last night but it was too dark to see. We'll see what today brings.

The drive here was brutal. Very hot and 11 hours long. We went over a pass that we had only been on part of, a long time ago. It's supposed to very scenic and it was, at the summit only. So we had to endure very twisty roads with no end in sight. The vista areas were over packed with cars so we just had to keep going. It's the only pass that gets this close to Mt. Rainier. We had hardly eaten anything all day just to make better time, but it didn't even work. We arrived hot, tired, cranky, and starving. The house must have been 80+ degrees and it took a long time to cool down. But to wake up to this made it all worthwhile.  We stayed local yesterday, heading to Damon Point. It's easier to walk at low tide but us, of course, arrived at high tide. Faith and I helped drag Tony's walker through the soft sand to the harder compacted part. He told us go on ahead. My child; my only child turned 28 on the 1st. Didn't I just bring her home from the hospital yesterday? We spent the morning at Greenbluff, picking a few apricots, beans, tomatoes, and zucchini. Then we stopped at another farm to share some pie and ice cream. She made us dinner that night and Abe wasn't too sure about the coffee mug I got her. Murray's parents brought over his gently used scratching post that is much bigger than the one Abe's had since a kitten. I think he likes it! When they left, I felt incredibly sad that I will probably never spend another night there. I don't foresee them getting another pet and house sitting probably wouldn't be necessary for the short trips they take. Sigh...... Next week by this time we will be in Ocean Shores, WA for a week. I'm looking forward to staying in our Vrbo and sitting on the dock next to the canal with my cup of coffee. I'll try to do daily updates on what we're up to. Until then, here's some ...
