Unearthing Memories

After getting home from Steve's, Faith and I continued to clean out the basement. Most of the time I know exactly where/what something is, but sometimes there are these moments: "Oh, I forgot all about that!" or "that's where this went!" A bag of greeting cards. Many from Mom that dated way back to when Tony and I got married. We wrote each other a lot because you had to pay for long distance calls back then, and email and certainly not FB messenger was even around. So many funny things she wrote about and it softened my harsh feelings regarding the last few months of her life. The best one was when she wrote explaining how to measure the inside of a microwave because she needed a new turntable. Back then you had to buy the kind that wound up to turn and I just didn't understand what she was talking about. This made it all crystal clear! I kept them all. Miniature Fun...Sorta

I've been at Steve's now for two weeks with one to go. I did bring paints and rocks but also brought a new craft I wanted to work on. I've never done any miniatures but this was so darn cute, I couldn't resist. This particular style is called a miniature box theater. There are several in this series but I wanted a winter scene. The open tin box only measures 5.63x6.45 soooooo, that means everything is very tiny.  I opened up the kit and looked at all the pieces, and immediately felt overwhelmed.  The instructions were in Chinese which didn't help. I searched online and found several YouTube videos which were helpful but just couldn't cover everything. I downloaded a translator app and took pictures of steps I was confused on; which was about all of them. I almost chucked the whole thing in the garbage a couple of times.
