First Spring Outing

Image
Last Wednesday we headed across the border into Post Falls, Idaho to a cute little park for a picnic. Faith had been there briefly before but we hadn't. It's mostly used for a disc golf course. It's pretty uniquely laid out with the baskets between trees and into the basalt rocks. The park also lies along side the Spokane River. Of course Sadie loved it, except being by the water. She didn't want to have anything to do with it. We all took turns walking her while Faith and I took pictures, and Tony and I sat to rest. I actually did better than I thought I would, and thoroughly enjoyed being out with the family for our first outing of the year.

Sadie, Tape, and Rain

This week we've had 9 times repeat Sadie with us. In fact she'll be here until the 29th, her longest stay ever. She's mellowed a teeny tiny bit now that she's 9. A good morning walk and a few sessions of play and she's good. We have permission to take her anywhere because she does like an adventure......and squirrel hunting. I kept my Podiatrist appointment mainly because I was curious on what he would say. He wasn't a very friendly guy but guided me to some silicone heel cups on Amazon. He said the fat pad on my heel was thinner than usual. I wanted to tell him I got plenty everywhere else so lets just transfer some, but he didn't seem like the joking type. His nurse then came in to wrap my foot. She explained the process as she went, and 7 pieces of tape later I walked out of the office almost pain free. It seriously blew me away. I was supposed to receive some written instructions but the doctor forgot. I searched online and found that it was called ...

Going Cold Turkey

The Fun Train just keep on a rollin' through my life. My legs starting itching about 3 weeks ago, then my arms. I don't usually get dry skin in the summer; not to that degree anyway. Then they looked red and blotchy. By last Monday I had full blown hives. I took what I had with me (Zyrtec and Benadryl) but by the next morning it had spread to my front and was working its way up to my face. It felt like I was on fire. I did a video medical visit with a doctor from somewhere who wanted me to send him pics. Poor guy, they were not pretty. He said he would like to prescribe steroids but suggested I go to my doctor to have my bp checked, plus he was worried about my kidney function. Again I go to urgent care and was prescribed just that as well as a few different antihistamines. I got to see the same guy who treated me after my accident and when we were going over my meds I told him I had been taking high doses of Advil since then. When I told him 12 a day, I think he might have p...

Repeat Week

Apologies for the little break. I just didn't really have anything to talk about and I'm tired of complaining about being in pain. I've been pretty depressed but finally this past weekend I am starting to feel like my foot is mending. Slowly.....but surely. A few weeks ago I was so desperate to walk somewhat normal that I ordered this brace. It seemed like the perfect answer. Look how happy she is. Kden was not that happy. First you need to check the requirements to see if this will work for you such as height, weight, balance and average overall strength. Then you watch several videos on fitting and taking your first steps. There are different settings if you're bow legged, straight legged or legs that angle out. I chose the latter because my right leg is kind of duck-like from the hip and the knee turns to the right a bit. That adjustment shoved my knee into the bar so I had to wrap some fleece around it.  So far I have fallen twice, once in the alley sma...
