Greece And Mexico

Image
As long as I've been painting rocks I had occasionally seen beautiful white sparkly rocks from Greece. Santorini rocks are mined from the lava; larger pieces are used in landscaping and home interiors such as countertops, stairs, and walls. Smaller pieces are tumbled to take off the rough edges and also used for landscaping, while flats are shipped to mostly Florida for distribution to crazy rock painters. I had wanted some for a long time so finally splurged on a box of 4. I've never paid for any rock as we are able to find plenty of them wherever we go; but these are special. Mine averaged to be about $5 each and range in sizes from 4-5 inches. With any other rock if I make a mistake, I can paint over it or soak the paint off. With a Santorini though, I'm not sure if a mistake is fixable so I took so long to get started. Some people paint the whole rock which covers up the natural beauty so I wanted to paint something simple to compliment the rock. I ended up c...

Snow And Netflix

I will never brag again about the nice, almost snowless winters we are having. We got hit hard and of course it was while I was at Sasha's. I tried to keep up with the shoveling and a neighbor lady was kind enough to help me. Walking was put off for several days and we just played in the yard. Sasha makes great snow angels! The snow came clear up to her belly and she would stick her nose in and corkscrew down as far as she could and then pop out all covered. She kept me so amused which helped with the weather conditions. One day I had to go to my Mom's which is actually closer from Sasha's than my own house. In just a few miles distance I passed by 4 separate accidents with two cars being in the ditch. I just held on and made my way through flares, tow trucks, and cops to get there. Sasha's parents were scheduled to get home about 10:00 pm and I wasn't thrilled about having to stay that late. I am in bed by then people! But if I wanted to be paid, I had no choic...

The Sasha Dailies

Sasha acted like I had never left. She knows our routine for walking and that I give her extra treats. She begs me to let her run around in the fenced area of the back yard. A dog needs to run and her owner didn't say I could open the gate, but he never said I couldn't . She has a small area to do her business but the rest of the yard is gated off. I love to watch her run and spin and roll on her back. All she needs is a few minutes and she settles right down so it's worth it. As with most dogs, they like routine. I don't think cats care as much as long as they get fed. This is pretty much how I spend my time with her. I get up between 6-7 or when the cat's yowling has reached a fever pitch. Sasha does her fair share of whining from her crate. Let the dog out of the crate and watch her either jump over the cats or mow through them. No one is safe as she runs to be let outside. Feed the frantic cats. This is not an easy process as their food is mixed with great ...

Young and Old

I got home from Annabelle's on Tuesday and was able to spend a day with Reggie, who Tony and Faith had been taking care of. He's a 2 year old Airedale with a wild amount of energy. He would settle down after a walk or running around outside but if he got excited about anything; watch out! He was hard to walk, and nipped when playing. We had to block him from the bedrooms just to keep him out of mischief. He would find little things to put in his mouth so we had to put a lot of things up. Nellie was pretty much the same way at that age so all was forgiven. We actually did like him, so he is welcome back (for a short stay anyway). The only time I sat still Reggie left Wednesday and Koda came the next day. He's been here a few times before and it was nice to see him again. He was the one that smelled so horrible the last time he was here. I think it was his breath (dental) although his family didn't have a clue. It's much better this time but we still had some sc...
