Relaxing and Repeats

Image
I had almost 2 weeks at home and I loved it! Then I had a short 2 night stay with Luna. The weather was pretty dismal with heavy snow/rain but we still had to get out for a walk. She really needs two but I wasn't up for it, so she did get a little squirrely and I just didn't know what do do with her. Her family leaves her a new toy but she destroys it in 5 minutes. I tried playing tug but she yanked me so hard that the cup of coffee I had in my other hand spilled all over my nightshirt and I had to sleep in another shirt the next night.  For shorter stays I only pack my things in a bag instead of a suitcase. I only take the most essential stuff, but you would not believe the things I forgot; a most essential hairbrush, and toothbrush/toothpaste. I did find some toothpaste so wrapped a little bit of paper towel around my finger and used that for a brush. It's gross and the pt falls apart but for a few minutes I felt better. Hopefully the next time I stay there, the weather w...

Carpet And Beyond

Image
The carpet installation was interesting. The lead installer walked in and started yelling at us that we had to get the furniture out and clean off the table and move it too, like now! We were totally thrown off guard because the owner said they could move big stuff around and not have to remove it from the rooms. The installer said that's not how it worked. I told him to take it down a notch. They helped us with the big stuff, even putting some stuff outside in the snow. We weren't off to a good start. We headed downstairs with Chico to wait it out. Abe was already down there because he wasn't feeling well. So much noise with hammering and ripping up. I snuck up a few times and quickly got a shot of the hardwood underneath. It was so pretty and in such good shape, but that's not the direction we were going. I was just glad I got to see it. The guy did apologize later and I understood, but he didn't need to be such a jerk about it. There is a big fold line in the car...

Cleaning The Mouse House

Image
One job that I wouldn't wish upon anyone is to clean up after a mouse. One Measly Mouse! I can't even put into words the mess it made; from getting into food, and pooping everywhere, including bags/boxes with non food items in them. Every single thing had to be looked at to determine damage. Being forced to clean is good in a way, it makes you throw old useless things and outdated canned food. It's a gross old cold closet and having to clean every shelf and then relining them took such a long time. But it's done and looks so much better, but one thing concerns me greatly....I did not find a body! We suspect that it may have chewed one of our phone wires because our land line stopped working and it was traced to right above the closet. Instead of fixing that wire we opted to add another box in the kitchen and put both the modem and phone in there. Another fun thing this past week was a dead car battery caused by an oil leak dripping onto the the alternator. So a new batt...
