20 flowers and counting

Image
I was at Teddy's just for the weekend and got home this morning. These are the cutest little frames (for 2.5x3.5 pictures), I got at the dollar store.  I got the idea to make several double sided paintings so they could be switched out whenever the mood strikes. I started them at home and would like to get to 30, enough for an entire month. Some are not great, but the other side is, so I couldn't throw them away. I wasn't aiming for perfection, just realistic enough. I haven't done many flowers so 90% of these are something I've never tried before. They're going to be for Margie (Teddy's mom), but I'll wait until later since I just gave her the one I painted of him. She has been dealt some pretty bad news recently. In one month's time she has been diagnosed with two different cancers. She will have to see 2 different oncologists so they can coordinate care and decide which is the most urgent to treat.  I don't know what I can do for her; like mos...

Five Cats And A Kid

Image
At Julie's when Faith settles in for the evening, she is usually joined by most of the cats. This night, even one of the outside Tuxedo's wanted in to join them. She's on the back of the couch, then Amelia (the shyest) is at the end of the couch. Rocket the tabby is probably closer than he's been before. Nutmeg the Calico has to be right next to Tino, who you can't see well. He's all black and directly at the bottom, right on her lap. Who needs a blanket! It's sort of the same when she's sleeping too; she'll just roll over and Tino's right in her face. They just seem so much happier that someone is there to stay with them. Faith has passed her 5 week point. She does get homesick sometimes which I can totally understand.  I painted some things for Valentine's Day even though I only send one card out a year. It takes me several tries or styles to figure out which one I like the best to send. It's not that the others are bad; they just have ...

Home

Saturday night I got home from 2 weeks at Kody's. Faith decided to come home for the night instead of her usual Friday. We had popcorn and got caught up on our recordings. Sunday morning I went to feed Julie's cats so Faith could sleep in. Then Tony made waffles and we watched the Puppy Bowl. So did Abe; it exhausted him! Kody has chilled a bit as he's gotten older. He's pretty happy to just hang out, but will not pass up some ball throwing. He has good taste in books too. This is Chloe, Julie's mom's cat that she had to take in. She is just the sweetest girl and loves attention. We've cut back on her food, but it will take a long time so see if it's made any effect on her weight. When I was there yesterday, she snuck by me when I opened the bedroom door and just started walking around the house. I followed close behind and the calico Nutmeg got up on the table, a hissin' and spittin'! I didn't want it to escalate so I scooped up that giant b...

A few lil paintings

Image
I've been at Kody's for about a week-and-a-half with 4 days to go. I've been trying to keep myself busy with painting of course. I finished this one that I had started at home. This is probably the last cat I'm going to do, for awhile anyway. This is for Margie of her cat Teddy. He's really a fluffy boy but that's difficult to do. But I did get him anatomically correct with clipped ear and shorter tail.  One day while on Instagram I saw a post from an art gallery in Reno Nevada. They are holding their first 4x4 art show that any artist can send their works to. I didn't have a lot of time, but did a total of 5, then Faith and I picked one. This one we both liked and the 4 below didn't make the cut, ha. All pieces will be priced at $44 for the public to buy and proceeds will be split between the artist and gallery. I've never heard of these shows before so just being able to participate was fun. I hope I see more pop up in the future.  I'm still tr...
