Feel Like Complaining

Before we left on vacation, Faith had gotten an email from Indeed saying she was a match for a job as a Vet Assistant. She was hesitant to apply due to fear and past experiences but I told her to go for it. After we got home, she had an interview, then a working interview and was hired full time a few days later.  She's only been there a month, but seems to like it so far. It's a ways to drive but instead of taking the freeway, she drives past Mom's old mobile home community twice a day.  She's still in the training stage, mostly following around, but taking on more responsibility. They take things nice and slow and always work in teams. It's the only clinic in town that uses the Fear Free practices. It was developed by Dr. Marty Becker, a local vet, and is now worldwide. Every employee has to take a test to be certified and Faith was told it was hard and it took many tries for some, even the vet (6 tries). Faith got her certification in 2! She's also certified ...

Our flight was leaving at 1:15 so we didn't have much for breakfast at the hotel. Overall their breakfasts were just ok. They had the usual make your own pancake machine, breads, and cereals. I personally like a good breakfast meat but all they ever had was either chicken sausage (yuck) or pork link (almost as yuck). Eggs were either scrambled or some kind of omelet thing and one day they were still frozen (double yuck). And the potatoes; pure grossness of pale barely warm squares. It's a big hotel and it was packed every morning so I think some of the quality goes out the window trying to keep up with the demand. We took an Uber (too far for a Waymo) to the airport and had a really nice lunch before boarding. The flight was great and we were home by 4:45, just in time to feed Abe. He survived; our neighbor did a good job. He just fed him and didn't hang out for awhile to keep him company though, which made me sad. After he did his zoomies and settled in his saucer I went t...

This is the day I felt the absolute worst but it was a day just for Faith and I so I couldn't bail. We were going to walk down Lombard and on to the Coit Tower. The walk to the top of Lombard should have taken about 30 minutes at the most, but for some reason it took us over an hour. My mind had completely blanked on the hills and how hard it was; and the ongoing heat did not help. We had to rest so much, sometimes on the front stoops of houses! Every new block we came to I would say, "I don't think I can make it". But we did; I don't know how, but we did. From Lombard, we still had to walk to that tall thing in the background.  Technically being fall, there wasn't a lot of things blooming so it wasn't as pretty as it was in the spring. But it's still an awesome thing to see and I'm glad Faith got the chance. We kept climbing hills until we got to the Coit. I was just going to sit and rest while Faith took the elevator to the top. Chinatown was in the plans today and although I had walked there last time, we decided to let our friend take us. As with every place else, it was hot and crowded as well as dirty and stinky. We walked around a little and bought some fortune cookies at the Golden Gate Cookie Company. That was enough for us and our little friend picked us up to go back to the hotel where we all took a nap. We decided to have an early dinner and walked down to Pier 39 to The Hard Rock Cafe because none of us had ever eaten at one. I thought it was overpriced and nothing that spectacular. We probably should have taken a Waymo somewhere further away. After dinner we went into a t-shirt shop I had been to last time. Everything was 2/10.00 and the quality is really good cotton material. After that, we took our hot selves back to the hotel and ate cookies.
