Oh Meow

I wasn't even going to do a post this week because I just stayed with Julie's 4+ cats over the weekend and nothing exciting usually happens. I was really looking forward to just a easy peasy stay and enjoying the solitude.  All of the Tuxedo kittens have been adopted.....but the mom is pregnant again. It's so sad when owners can't take responsibility for their animals. Julie is also helping another stray who hangs around, by getting an infected tail fixed. She took him to the vet, got him bandaged up and is keeping him inside until it heals. But of course she didn't tell me until after I'd arrived that he was in the house. Hiding and wearing a cone, I saw him briefly come downstairs to use the box. He does not like being inside! Very early the next morning, he tried to make an escape out a bathroom window. I had opened it before I went to bed, not knowing he would see that as an invitation. Even though  the bathroom is right next to where I sleep, my ear plugs b...

Just OK

Our weekend to Loon Lake was just OK; without a lake house or a boat there isn't anything to do. It was hot and the AC in the room wasn't working very well. Finally Saturday I asked for a fan and the owner came over to take a look and got it working correctly. I am VERY cranky when I'm hot. Saturday morning we went to the Little Pend Oreille Natural Wildlife Refuge. You can only drive in so far and then have to walk. We had to stick to the main road because of Tony and didn't see anything exciting at all. If we had kept walking further up the road, we would have run into Kaniksu Ranch, a nudist resort that's been in operation since 1939. That could have been interesting! We did get some good walking in though and then Faith and I went to a thrift store next to the motel, and this was the best part of the whole weekend. I tried to convince Faith to smuggle him out in some clothing....she was tempted! He was so friendly and vocal, he meowed more in that 15 minutes tha...

Turn And Burn

My week long stay with Levon was a little better; or maybe I just got used to it. Two nights before I left, he actually started sleeping with me. That's a big deal when a dog finally feels comfortable to do that. He became a lot more loveable too offering kisses whenever possible. I guess it just takes time for both animal and sitter to get comfortable to enjoy each other, and we did. I got home last Thursday afternoon from his place and by 11 the next morning I was here with Hope and Venus.  If this stay had been longer than 3 nights I would have passed on it. I decided to tough it out because I've blocked my calendar for an entire week afterward, so we can get away for two nights over the weekend.  Since we only have two nights, we didn't want to drive far and decided on Loon Lake. I'm having doubts though because it's going to be super hot, there's nothing to do there unless you have a cabin/boat and you have to go to the next town to find a restaurant. What ...

Rocks

Image
On my longer stays I try to keep busy with painting rocks. I kind of figure out what I want to paint and only take what I need. The last few months I really made some progress! I did this one about 6 months ago and liked it so much that I kept it, as well as the lighthouse. A friend of my mom's, a woman she worked with for years bought several of them. I thought that was real sweet of her. I made this one at Julie's (4 cats) and left it for her.  It takes a bit of planning but easier in the long run so I know what I'm doing. I can usually get 4-6 done in a couple of days. While one is drying I move on to the next. This week while I'm at Levon's again I'm working on something different so if it turns out, you'll get to see it eventually. If not, I'll never tell! These sticks that I painted awhile back were turned into a wind chime of sorts. They don't really clang, just swing in the wind and are under cover so I hope they last awhile. That's all f...
