Bedtime Routines

Image
Remember when you were young and getting ready for bed was so easy? Even while staying up late to watch Jonny Carson or coming home even later after the bars closed. It was a quick trip to the bathroom, wash your face, and hop into bed. Even with kids, a young family could all be in bed by 10:00. Oh boy, how times have changed. It creeps up on you; the time it takes before the light goes out. I go to bed at nine to watch some shows on my Kindle. But first the bathroom stuff, then I take my pills.  Since I'm away from home so much I have duplicates of everything I need, but the program is the same. Away from home I keep all my stuff in a little black purse that was my mom's. She did the same thing and I thought it was very clever. The lady I used to work for used a shoe box, ha. I start with a stretch trying to touch my toes; it just feels good and I can usually pop my upper back. Lip balm and hand lotion next because I hate both being dry when I go to bed! Then my Glaucoma dro...

Guess Where I Am?

I am back at my favorite place!! Teddy has been here for 3 months now and has come a long way. I visited three separate times beforehand so he could get used to me. I brought a laser light for him to play with so they ordered their own for him because he really liked it. As soon as I got there, he came to me slowly. I put a few things away, then went to sit down for a few minutes. I couldn't have hoped to a better start than this! He's got a few quirks though; but what pet doesn't? He prefers company and sweet talking when he eats and doesn't even eat a lot. He only drinks the juice from any canned food (just like Murray did); Abe would devour the whole can.  Other than the laser, he likes fishing pole toys but not much else. I brought a jingle ball from home but it scared him; I'll have to work on that. Poor boy has never had any real toys and doesn't know what to think of them. Margie's happy, I'm happy, and I suspect that Teddy is happy too! I'm l...

Whirlwind Week

Image
Last Monday Tony had an eye appointment with his new doctor. He used the transportation available through our insurance. He met a nice woman who also owns her own cab service. After his appointment, he requested her and only had to wait 15-20 minutes. It's a nice option for when it isn't feasible for anyone else to take him or he can't drive himself. He has cataracts plus some other thing called a Macular Pucker in his left eye. It's not a severe condition but can cause vision to be wavy. He now has a referral for a consultation to get at least the cataracts taken care of. I have my own eye issues with a 'secondary cataract' which is just leftover cells from the original surgery. Next week I'll have laser surgery to get rid of it. Isn't it fun getting older? Tuesday, Tony and Faith picked me up and we went to the casino for pizza and people watching. Both were good. Wednesday I stayed at Steve's trying to get some crafting wrapped up. My hands will t...

Shiny Things

Image
I've been at Steve's for a week and-a-half with only a week to go! I'm really keeping busy making more windchimes and the time has blown by. And then Pinterest had to go show me some more cute things that involved supplies I already had. They're called garden sparklers and I could easily whip out a few to put in the yard. I wonder what people think when they walk or drive past our house? I can imagine "That's where that crazy rock, driftwood, yard art lady lives.

Abe, Our Little Weirdo

Image
This cat of ours just makes me shake my head sometimes. He has an affinity for butter and we don't dare leave it out. He knows where it lives and paws at the cupboard. I've had to touch up the paint and 2 days later, he scratched it up again. Every Friday we still make popcorn. I use the type of oil that movie theatres do, pure coconut oil. Now Abe is in love with that; I mean obsessively in love! He knows when we start getting things ready and he'll jump on the stove and try to get into the tub of oil. It's hard when cold so I have to dig it out with a spoon. I wipe off most of the oil and put it in the sink for him to lick and he's a happy boy. Oh, and glasses; the type we all wear on our faces. We can lay them down 99 times, but that 100th time, he will grab them, knock them on the floor, and chew on the stems. I now put mine in a cupboard in the bathroom, just a shelf is not good enough. He would rather drink water out of the bathroom sink than his dish. He like...
