The morning Tony was supposed to go to his pre surgery appointment, his doctor called to say surgery would have to be postponed a bit. After he was discharged from the hospital, there were so many changes to meds, including his blood thinner. They didn't catch that the one he is currently taking needs 4 days to get out of his system. The doc apologized  but said it could cause significant bleeding if we continued with the original date. Nothing like gearing up and then having to slam on the brakes. So this coming Friday is the new day and at least Faith will be able to go too. We are NOT looking forward to the 5:00 a.m. check-in time!  I saw my doctor about my shoulder pain (still) and she agreed to let me try a steroid shot. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to go to sports medicine to have the tendon calcification broken down. Since I have a couple of things going on in there, it's hard to tell which should be done first. In any event, I will have to re-start my PT...

How Wegovy Is Treating Me

Image
I had my first jab on August 5th and am still on the lowest dose. I've heard there's no reason to move up if it's still working (plus the price goes up). So far I've lost 10 lbs, and side effects have been pretty minimal. If I'm more active, I lose more. As long as I see a little loss every week, I'm satisfied. I'm not in to be a model and it's not a race to the finish line. Simply, I'm doing it to save my life. The premise behind any GLP-1 is that slow your digestion way down so you fill up faster and stay full. It also shuts off the cravings and food noise. There are many differences between them all too. I believe my doctor chose Wegovy is because it's approved for liver disease. Plus, not every insurance carries them all; I think there were only 3 choices for me. I still cook the same way, mostly lo-so; but also eat about half of what I did. No snacking in between meals. If I do, it's maybe a handful of something and not the whole bag. If...

Weird Shit

In preparation for Tony's upcoming surgery they say to make sure you see a dentist to take care of any issue you have. He's had dentures for over 35 years so that was a moot point. One day he was putting his uppers in and didn't get enough cream in it and something hurt. I took a look and it was white and looked like a tonsil stone although between his gum and cheek was an odd place for one. I poked it with some tweezers and it went clink! What in the frickity frack could that be? I made him an appointment with my dentist and after an x-ray it showed a full grown wisdom tooth coming in. They were all very surprised to say the least. Luckily it wasn't infected and in such a place that with his dentures properly gooped up, it doesn't bother him. We'll just wait it out until the day it does. But dang, that was weird. Last week I was cutting back some plants and something landed on my arm. I thought it was a leaf until it crawled up my neck and took a tour around my...

Just Perfect

Image
Everything about our weekend simply put; just perfect. The weather, scenery, motel, food, and activities. This was the view from our motel. There were carved bears everywhere, must have been about 50 in all forms.  We packed a lunch and ate it quickly at a park because we had an appointment with the Alpacas! What a cool place that raises them for their fiber, harvesting 500 lbs. a year. They have many Alpacas, 2 llamas, and one mini donkey. The males are separated from the females and we visited them first. Very friendly and eat pellets right out of your hand. The females are a bit smaller, but much more aggressive in wanting food. The owner put about half of them away so they wouldn't overwhelm us. He was very accommodating and friendly. We got to see a spinning class in progress and then the little store which sells fiber goods. After that we went back to our room because Faith and I wanted to go to an animal shelter which also has a thrift store attached. It was closed for the h...
