Just OK

Our weekend to Loon Lake was just OK; without a lake house or a boat there isn't anything to do. It was hot and the AC in the room wasn't working very well. Finally Saturday I asked for a fan and the owner came over to take a look and got it working correctly. I am VERY cranky when I'm hot.

Saturday morning we went to the Little Pend Oreille Natural Wildlife Refuge. You can only drive in so far and then have to walk. We had to stick to the main road because of Tony and didn't see anything exciting at all. If we had kept walking further up the road, we would have run into Kaniksu Ranch, a nudist resort that's been in operation since 1939. That could have been interesting!


We did get some good walking in though and then Faith and I went to a thrift store next to the motel, and this was the best part of the whole weekend. I tried to convince Faith to smuggle him out in some clothing....she was tempted! He was so friendly and vocal, he meowed more in that 15 minutes than Abe has in his whole life. Our boy just doesn't meow!

The weekend got a rough start because last Wednesday my cell phone rang from a caller in Kalispell, Mt. I don't normally answer a call that I don't know, but I did. She said she was calling from a probate attorney's office regarding the death of our friend in Whitefish. I calmy gave her our address as they didn't have it. She said Scott died in March and I just couldn't believe it. I said we had no idea and asked if she knew how he died but she didn't. 

I texted him last at Christmas and he said he wished we could come and visit because he had to tell us something. He said he would call in a week or two but he never did. I should have texted at Valentine's day like I normally do. We are heartbroken. We'll never hear his hearty laugh again or feel his bear hugs. No more getting our money's worth at buffets or swimming at the motel pool. Even though we only texted a few times a year, we knew he was there. I know he has a different vantage point now but we can still look at the same moon and know we are thinking of each other. I will miss him more than I could ever explain.

I have searched to no avail to find a death notice or obituary. In searching I did find that he's buried in Lewiston, Idaho with his mom and step-dad so I think in the fall we'll take a drive to find it. It's the best we can do to visit our friend for one last time.

Sorry about the death of your friend. That's a difficult way to find out such news.

A fairly new trend by some FB business pages is go 'live' with either a Q and A, news broadcast, or just to connect with fans. I've tried to watch a few but the video quality is poor. If a FB page has a regular TV show, I would just rather watch them there. I follow one of our news stations on FB and they started going live a few months ago. I don't know if it's the entire broadcast or just a small part of it. At first the notifications were annoying so I finally stopped them but twice a day along with their regular news updates, half of the screen is taken up by: KXLY is now live! Still Her Advocate

As a parent gets older, their children take on rolls to make things easier for them. Simple phone calls to complain about Mom's phone being down was so stressful to her, especially when it happens over and over. I would have to call her phone company several times a year and always had the same spiel, "No, I'm not going to unplug it and plug it back in, this is an ongoing problem and she uses a lifeline so she NEEDS her phone". Then they would send someone out on emergency status.  At her new home we'd have to step in to tell the owner and girls what Mom liked and how she liked things done. Yes she was particular but it would make their life so much easier if they did it her way. She had so many things taken away from her the day she moved in; just give her control over a few things. Exploding Snails

serves them right for eating something so gross in the first place These two idiots in California are suing the Seafood Peddler restaurant in San Rafael over an alleged incident of "exploding" escargot. Chadwick St.-OHarra and Steve Righetti were celebrating Righetti's birthday at the restaurant and they both ordered the escargot. As they dove into the little devils with their cocktail forks the snails squirt out hot garlic butter on both of their faces and polo shirts. St-OHarra cried that butter got into one of his tear ducts causing 'temporary vision impairment' and said he was genuinely outraged about the incident. Maybe he should have sued his mother for naming him Chadwick, a name like that is just asking for trouble. And have you ever been outside when a tiny little bug flies into your eye.
