Happy, Sad, and WTF

OK, for all of you who want to know if Faith got the job---yes she did! Part time to start, two days a week. She will probably stay at the clinic for awhile too because she really likes the people and the work there. I am so proud of her for knowing what she wanted, and being determined enough to stick with it to get the training at the clinic. She did get a nudge or two from old Mom to inquire about a job there, which did set things in motion to put in more hours. She'll start on Wed and her normal days will be Mon/Wed.

Imagine my surprise then, when she came in the door crying after leaving the clinic. It was another check up day for Abe and even though he has gained a little bit, he tested positive for FIV or FeLV. Two vets each said one, so we're not really sure. Even though they get used interchangeably, they are different. He was negative when he came in but hadn't been tested since. We knew something wasn't right with him because he slept all the time and stopped playing and being feisty. His breathing has sounded pretty rough for a couple of weeks now and Faith would tell them at every check up but it's always noisy in there and it wasn't that noticeable. Finally they could hear it which prompted another test, so his neuter was put on hold again until they decide what to do with him. We love him even more now.

There is a cat sanctuary on the other side of the state who takes in these cats and keeps them in special ward to so they don't mix with the others. He can possibly be adopted from there. He can get more specific care because this disease can go up, sideways, and down and they will know how to take care of him. Best of all he will be so, so, loved because he is adorable.

Imagine my surprise AGAIN, when Tony tested positive for Covid. He started feeling sick last weekend then went to urgent care on Friday. He goes out the least of all of us and mostly to Dr. appointments. He always wears a mask and is super careful. His lungs are good, it's more like one of the worst colds he's ever had. Then I started getting a sore throat on Tue and Faith does too now (plus she has kidney stones). We don't plan on getting tested because it's kind of like, duh. We don't feel bad, just more tired than usual. I actually felt worse after my 2nd shot.

So now we're scrambling to cancel appointments (Tony had an appt with a spinal surgeon today which he waited 6 weeks for) and clients. Faith probably won't be able to start work until after our vacation but will hopefully hear from the Vet soon. We do plan on going because we'll all have had our quarantine time in.

I am grateful that we had our shots because it could have been so much worse.

Take really good care, hugs and best wishes!

Congrats to Faith for getting the job. This could be the start of a rewarding career path.

Cases like Tony's are so hard to understand. People who rarely go out, wear masks when they do, do all the right things and still get sick. It's part of what makes this disease so insidious.
