Finally Finished
Last week, my brother, SIL, Faith, and I finished up at Mom's house. It took us exactly a month to clean it out. So many trips to donate things and put into dumpsters. We've sold all of the big stuff except a glass coffee/end table. Good thing she doesn't check out FB Marketplace! No more packing, lifting, hauling, and unpacking...for awhile anyway. I will really miss by brother and Deb; we've spent so much time together the past 4 months. Other than the dogs, I feel truly retired, only visiting Mom once a week.
I almost cried when the dining room table was hauled out; I've had so many of my lunches there and all of the Christmas's we spent there were centered around that table. But her truly important things are stored or brought home. To me, her paintings are more important than a table.
The woman that works in the office of the park is a realtor so she will handle the sale. It was sad to see it all empty and devoid of anything Mom, like she was never there. It's a nice place and I'm sure it will sell pretty fast. Our bedroom looks like hers now with all of her furniture and paintings; kinda funny really.
Mom is doing a lot better and getting used to her routine. She still hasn't left her room but told the owner that she may go out for dinner on Valentine's Day, ha. I had thrown all of her lipstick away because she didn't seem like she would want them, but low and behold she asked me to buy her some; that is progress!
*The house is in process of selling; never even hitting the market. Word gets around fast and I believe it was bought by a friend of a neighbor.
