Why Be A Dick?

I may be taking anti-depressants and have an overall calmer demeanor but some things still piss me off. We have a neighbor, not even a close one in proximity, so we have never even met. He lives kitty-corner and 2 houses down from the corner.

For about two months now he has been parking his car alongside our house. It even took us awhile to figure out it was him. He works during the day so it doesn't sit there during the day along with all the teacher's and student's cars. But at night it's there, and on weekends.

Looks like a good egg target to me
We don't own the street, he's not on our property. It's not a POS looking car. But why does he have to park here? He has three cars in the driveway that never move, a truck that his wife (or mother) drives. Sure it might be a pain to juggle in and out of a driveway on a busy street. But there are other streets or maybe his own alley he can park in. Why would he think that parking on our street would be any safer than his alley? Although he can see it from his house, if someone was breaking in, he couldn't run over here in time. I wouldn't even leave my own car on our street. Windows can get bashed in anywhere.

Last week I wrote a very nice note to put on his windshield. Really, it was nice. I explained that we have cars around our house for 9 months out of the year and it's nice to have the street empty for the summer. I suggested that he could back it up 20 feet behind our alley next to our neighbor's house. Hubby read the note, thought it sounded fine and offered to take it out. Of course he got busted by the owner and they had a 'discussion' about parking enforcement and so forth.

The next day he did park it back further, which is also in the shade, but it lasted one day. He's back to where he was and being a Dick in general. He must have read up on the rules which state you can only stay parked 24 hours before you have to move. This even applies if it's your own car in front of your own house. He moves it once a day so I guess he's safe.

I just see no reason for him to park here, other than to just piss us off, which it does.

I said my note was nice,in the past it wouldn't have been. Why should we provide the parking lot for someone that has at least 3 non working cars in their driveway?

Technically, isn't the city providing the parking space? Why doesn't he park in front of his own house?

Yes, technically :) We live on a busy 2 lane one-way and cars have been known to get run into, I wouldn't even park out front. But there are several side streets around...
