Talking To Big Brother

As if right on cue, the day I ran the post about stressing about my mysterious phone call from The Social Security office, I got a letter. I saw it on the table when I got home and my heart started pounding. I looked at it briefly and then had to stop. I decided to distract myself with a little treadmill and after about 5 minutes I started getting chest pains. Are you kidding me? Am I really letting this get to me?

I knew what they wanted, it's just so hard to put that much information on the form, they left 3 lines for 3 different questions. Basically I have to break up what I spend for my daughter's basic needs and what I put in savings. Then they carry the savings amount to the next year (and the next) and want to know what I've done with the past savings and the most recent accounting of it. Well I screwed up on the last form and didn't carry forward the past year's saving amount. And when you screw up on a government form, they want to know more....

I decided…

Happy Holidays!

Whatever is beautiful, whatever is meaningful, whatever brings you happiness… May it be yours this Holiday Season and throughout the coming year. I wish you and your family a very happy and healthy holiday season. May all your dreams come true.

More Bits

Hubby's car is fixed, for now. It was a seal on the fuel pump. The pump was new but the seal must have been bad. So he is now driving his own car for work. He gets his own company gas card to keep his tank full and may even be paid for mileage, which they never have done before. One of the next things on the list is to take off the horrid tinting on the windows that is bubbling. It's so hard to see out of the windows and I don't feel real safe driving it that way.

We went to the annual instrumental Holiday concert at the school last week. My friend MaryLou went with us. She's done with her 4 chemo treatments and won't start radiation until after the first of the year so she felt up to going. It was a great concert and they also sold raffle tickets for different themed baskets. We each spent 10 bucks on tickets and not one was a winner. Then a few days later we went to a play at her Church. It was just daughter and I that attended both events. Hubby has had to leave…

Random Little Tidbits

This college stuff is all too consuming. I have been eating, sleeping, and pooping it for weeks. We're coming along though, she's applied to 4 colleges in all, and 3 of them are very close. Then there's the submitting of  transcripts, SAT/ACT scores, and letters of recomendations. We met with our financial guy in person, he's pretty nice I guess, but still a little out of touch with us peons. Now we're gathering more info so they can prepare our financial aid application for us. A fun way to spend the weekend.

Hubby bought a new car, a  '99 Pontiac Gran Prix, about a month ago. I think it's been in the shop for 3 out of the 4 weeks. It had a lot of work done on it before he bought it but he's had to have a leak fixed which was causing the inside windows to steam up bad, more than just your usual condensation. He's also having a hard time figuring out what's causing the check engine light to come on after filling the gas tank. It has something t…

I hate my inner clock. It is so dead on, that any deviation from the norm throws my sleep cycle into a frenzy. I set my alarm for 5:15 every morning except weekends. Who wouldn't love to sleep in on the weekends? Although I still wake up at 5:15, I sometimes fall back asleep or just catnap until 6:30 or 7:00.

But by the time Sunday night comes I can't sleep because I've gotten too much sleep over the weekend. If I can't fall asleep in my usual 15-20 minutes, I'm screwed. Then my head starts spinning and I can't turn it off. This was my night last Sunday. I made it a point to be in bed by 10:00, my usual bed time, but it sure didn't make any difference.

Heard my radio go off of its 20 minute sleep mode.

WHOMP...heard the furnace come on. I'm usually asleep at this point so it only mildly wakes me. Since my bedroom is right next to the furnace room, it scared the Hell out of me.

Still awake at 11:00, I growl at my clock. WHOMP....furnace comes on again. …

Leave Elmo Alone!

I read recently that Kevin Clash, the voice and true personality of Sesame Street's Elmo has resigned. He had been accused of having sex with a then underage youth. Clash denies the claim but said that the relationship was consensual, as adults. The accuser was interviewed by Sesame Workshop who found the charges to be 'unsubstantiated'. The accuser recanted the next day and accepted 125K in a settlement, but now says he was forced to do so and wants to undo it.

Me thinks he found it easy to get that much and now wants more.

Now another man has filed a 5 million lawsuit for basically the same charge but this is his reasoning to do so now-- "did not become aware that he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash's sexual acts and conduct until 2012." Really? He didn't realize until now after seeing that someone else made money off of Clash, that he suffered psychological and emotional effects.

I call Bullshit--big time. No…
